Oldest Bingo Caller in Britain Dislodges Previous Record Holder

Bingo Caller Bert Sale, more popularly known as "Bingo Bert", 84 years old, used to hold the record of the oldest bingo caller in United Kingdom, but with the recent discovery of Tom Davis, it seems that "Bingo Bert" is a mere child compare to this fellow when it comes to shouting the numbers in a bingo game.

99 year old Tom Davis has come out to claim the title and honor of being the U.K.'s oldest bingo caller and is 15 years older than Bert Sale, the previous record holder. Just last week, a report came out about Bert Sale and how that he is believed to be the oldest bingo caller in the whole of Britain at the ripe age of 84 years old. But immediately after that, Tom Davis' supporters contest the record.

Tom Davis, who lives in Penrith Close, Holbrooks, has been calling out the numbers in bingo games since he retired almost 34 years ago and clearly has no signs of slowing down in his chosen field. Like Bert Sale, he is well-loved and like by the folks in his place and those who regularly attends the Maymorn Club situated in Everdon Road, Holbrooks, where he is the designated bingo caller.

When asked why he is doing this, he said that he genuinely loves the game and the experience that he gets when he laughed, joked and chat with other people around him.

Tom were born in Wales and later on moved to Coventry when he was just 24 years old to visit his brother for a couple of days and did not move out of there until 75 years later. He met his wife Daisy, when he have worked a fireman at the Dunlop Plant.

The two have five children in their course of their marriage. They are John, Joan, Pat, Pauline and Keith. His wife has died almost 18 years ago.

According to Pat Hobson, who is the manager at Maymorne Day Center where Tom works as the bingo caller the past several years Tom is really a likeable guy. Because of his experiences and wisdom, he genuinely understands what people need while they are playing bingo. He adjusts it for them.
